Check Your Levels
Low testosterone is not always the problem. There are many conditions that can result in the symptoms above. The initial evaluation is essential to guide your journey back to your greatest potential. The best way to start your journey is to test the values below. Not all these values are needed to start treatments however additional values can help to optimize your treatments as you progress.
- Free Testosterone: the testosterone in your blood that is available for use.
- Total Testosterone: a measure of the total amount of testosterone in the bloodstream, including both free (unbound) and protein-bound testosterone.
- SHBG: stands for sex hormone binding globulin, a protein that binds to sex hormones in the blood. It’s produced primarily in the liver. Carries sex hormones, like testosterone and estrogen, to tissues and organs where they are needed.
- Estradiol (E2): is a form of estrogen that’s produced in men as a byproduct of testosterone breakdown. It’s an important hormone for many bodily functions, including sexual function, bone health, and brain function. Estradiol (E2) levels can rise with Testosterone Therapy. Estradiol (E2) can reduce the benefits of Testosterone Therapy however it can easily be treated once identified.
- Complete blood count (CBC): is a routine blood test that measures the number and characteristics of various cells in the blood, including red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.
- Complete metabolic panel (CMP): is a group of blood tests that provide an overview of a person’s metabolic function, including liver, kidney, and electrolyte balance.
- Lipid panel: is a blood test that measures the levels of various fats (lipids) in the bloodstream. This helps to determine cardiovascular disease risk.
- Hemoglobin A1c: is a blood test that measures the average blood sugar (glucose) levels over the past 2-3 months. It is a valuable tool for diagnosing and managing diabetes.
- Thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH): is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland in the brain. It plays a crucial role in regulating the production of thyroid hormones by the thyroid gland.
- Prostate specific antigen (PSA): This blood test is used primarily to screen for prostate cancer.
- Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH): Promotes the production of sperm in the testes and supports testicular function.
- Luteinizing hormone (LH): is a reproductive hormone produced by the pituitary gland that primarily functions to stimulate the testes to produce testosterone, which is crucial for sperm production and development of male secondary sexual characteristics like muscle mass, body hair, and a deep voice; essentially, LH acts as the primary regulator of testosterone levels in men.
Additional Testing for Optimizing Hormones:
- Pregnenolone: is a hormone naturally produced in the body by the adrenal gland. Pregnenolone is also made from cholesterol and is the starting material in the production of testosterone, progesterone, cortisol, estrogen and other hormones.
- Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA): is a hormone that your body naturally produces I the adrenal gland. DHEA helps produce other hormones, including testosterone and estrogen. Natural DHEA levels peak in early adulthood and slowly fall as you age.
Cost Lab Work
We do accept lab work from other medical providers within 6 months to 1 year to start. We offer discounted lab panels starting at $50 collected in the office or by reporting to any local LabCorp.
Step 4:
INITIAL FOLLOW UP: (Telehealth or in Office)
When your lab results are complete (usually withing 1-3 days from blood draw) we will meet by telehealth or in our office at no additional cost. We will review each of your lab value results and potential treatment options to help optimize your health.

- Tadalafil 5 mg tablet, 1 tablet daily, #90 days’ supply: $60
- Sildenafil 100 mg tablet, 1/2 to 1 tablet as need, #30: $45
- Testosterone Cypionate Injections: (Discounts: 5% for 3 months, 7.5% for 6 months, and 15% off for 12 months if paid in full.)
- $55 for 1-month supply of testosterone with syringes.

The manufacturing oversight can be limited, and quality may be compromised with retail sources. There are also compounded forms available with known quality and consistency. The 25mg capsules are available, 1 capsule daily, #30, $70. The 50 mg capsules are also available, 1 capsule daily # 30: $75. Monitoring pregnenolone levels is recommended when taking this hormone since it may result in unwanted elevations in estrogen levels.
- L-Arginine: This amino acid can be found in over the counter in various forms and concentrations. There are also compounding forms available in the injectable form.
- B12: This is a water-soluble vitamin can be found in cover the counter forms and concentrations. It has limited absorption in oral forms. It is best taken sublingual, intermuscular, or subcutaneously. Cyanocobalamin is a synthetic form of vitamin B12 that is often used in supplements and fortified foods. However, it is considered the least beneficial form due to it poor bioavailability and the presence of cyanide, which the body must process and remove. Methylcobalamin is the natural form of B12 and easier for you body to utilized. We can obtain Methylcobalamin in a 5 mg/ml concentration. Typical dosing for this form of B12 is 1 ml (5000 mcg) IM or SQ once per week. There is a 10 ml vial, (10 dose) for $89. There is also a 30 ml vial (30 doses) for $169.
